Internship Program

Anoka High School has recognized Landmark Community Bank for its participation in the BPA (Business Professionals of America) program. For the past several years the bank’s Ramsey location has participated by hiring an intern to work during their senior year. Many of these interns are business students with an interest in pursuing a career in Accounting, Money Management, Marketing or Business Management.

Each potential intern fills out an application for employment, submits a resume and goes through the interview process. They must come to the interview in professional attire and answer interview questions, the same process they will experience when applying for employment in the future. They are competing against their fellow students for employment so they want to give their best impression during the interview.

During the course of the year the intern is graded by Carol Marcio, Branch Coordinator of the Ramsey Branch. The intern has a great incentive to do well as they are given a letter grade on their performance. This makes them incredibly reliable and conscientious about their attendance and work ethic. Quarterly evaluations are done to see how the student is progressing and if they are meeting their goals. There is open communication between Carol and the intern’s teacher during the school year. If the student needs improvement in certain areas, the teacher is more than willing to assist them. The student learns many skills which include cash handling, customer service, problem-solving and working as a team.

Many of these students participate in Regional, State and National competitions to enhance their skills in the business aspect of their chosen careers. Every summer, when a new intern is hired, the intern from the previous year becomes their tutor.

This also teaches the intern a valuable lesson in communication and reinforces all they have learned during their internship.

Chow Huynh interned from 2008-2009, and has since graduated from the University Of Minnesota.

Jessica Cory interned from 2009-2010 and currently attends St. Thomas.
Erika Ceron Fernandez, the 2010-2011 intern has continued her employment with the bank as a full time Personal Banker and is attending Anoka Ramsey Community College.
Casey Paulsen, the 2011-2012 intern is attending Minnesota State University in Mankato.
Deanna Kretsu who interned from 2012-2013 is attending Anoka Ramsey Community College.
Jacob Guzzo joined our staff in July 2013 and confirms Landmark Community Bank’s decision to continue to participate with Anoka High School’s BPA program.
